Ski Racers - Ski Club
Ski Racers Club is situated on whakapapa ski field. It is a friendly, family oriented club with profe
It’s so good to see the snow keep on coming down this late in the season! This weekend does also mark the last weekend that the club is open for the season so last chance for some awesome spring skiing.
Whakapapa is set to close soon after on the 23rd of October, so conditions pending we may open the club if there are many members wanting to come on a certain weekend before the field closing date as we have done in previous years.
There is still room at the club this weekend so get your bookings in now for some epic spring skiing!

Another stunning weekend up at the club, 2-1/2 bluebird days with some great spring skiing conditions and awesome grooming work on the runs.
A couple rocks starting to show through on the lower mountain but the snow forecast for this week indicates a good top up is on its way.
The good news is there is still plenty of room midweek and weekends at the club. We are at peak weekends and there are barely any lift queues!

Now that is what you call a stunning week! Perfect weather all week, no queues and no one on the mountain making for the perfect ski on ski off conditions.
There are still weekends at the club that aren’t full, and there are also many midweeks days where there is no one at all, so get up there and have some of the best skiing in years.![]()

In 1953, Ruapehu Alpine Lifts was formed to support the development of Whakapapa Ski Area, before going on to purchase Tūroa Ski Area in 2000.![]()
Back then, we wouldn’t have foreseen seeing in 70 years of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts whilst in liquidation – but here we are.![]()
BUT!![]()
We are also here in what is turning into one of the BEST snow seasons in recent memory!![]()
Tūroa has ticked over 255cm snow base while pockets of up to 8m have been found at Whakapapa. People are continuing to report having the best days of their lives up on the slopes this season.![]()
Generations of New Zealanders flock to Mt Ruapehu each year and we hope this will continue. Many discovered their first love of snow at our beginner facilities. Others have gone on to revel in our 1050 hectares of epic intermediate and advanced freeride terrain.![]()
There has been good, bad, and sometimes even ugly, but we want to celebrate Mt Ruapehu, its loyal following, and our incredibly hard working team. Those who continue to swing the yeti sticks against our world renowned ice, groom through the night to millimetre perfection, stand in bitter southerly fronts in the plazas to greet and support our manuhiri, manage our (aging) infrastructure and the technical curve balls it throws us, navigate the logistics of transporting food and drinks to 2020m above sea level, and the rest.![]()
While we expect this might be the last season of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts, we remain hopeful of a future of snow sports on Maunga Ruapehu. We hope you will commemorate this milestone with us, sharing your love, energy, stories, and photos of the magic maunga.![]()
